Privacy policy

This page explains what Orbyt keeps about you, why, and what you can do about it. We keep as little as we can.

What we keep

• When you make an account: your email address and a password. We never store your password itself, only a one-way fingerprint of it that cannot be turned back into the password.
• What you choose to add: display name, username, picture, about, location, your library, chapters read, ratings, reviews, comments, lists and settings.
• To keep you signed in: a secret sign-in cookie. We store only a fingerprint of it, with the type of browser and when it was last used, so you can see and end your sessions in Settings.
• Your time zone name (for example Asia/Kolkata) in a cookie, so "today" on Home matches your clock.
• If you close an announcement, a small cookie remembers its number so it stays closed.
• On your own device only: recent searches and your grid or list choice. These never reach us.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not show your email to other readers.
• We do not keep who searched for what. Trending searches count only the words, for 30 days.

Who else is involved

• Resend sends the emails Orbyt needs (sign-up and password codes).
• Supabase (database) and Cloudflare (hosting, pictures and protection) store and serve Orbyt.
• Advertising: Orbyt shows its own ads. If Google AdSense is switched on later, Google may use cookies to show ads, and this page will be updated before that happens.

Your choices

• Privacy settings: make your profile private, hide your library or reading activity, or leave reader search.
• Download your data any time: Settings → Your data.
• Delete your account: Settings → Your data. Your account is hidden at once and deleted for good after 14 days. Signing in again within the 14 days cancels it.

Age

Orbyt accounts are for readers 13 and older, or older where the law of your country says so. Anyone can browse the catalog without an account. Mature (18+) titles stay hidden until a reader confirms they are 18 or older in Settings.
